The Education philosophy of Asahi University is to foster individuals who are rich in social awareness and responsibility, rich in creativity and knowledge. The founding philosophy of Asahi University promotes and explores these ideals.

Asahi University consists of three main schools and five departments: the School of Law (Dept. of Law), the School of Business Administration (Dept. of Business Administration, Management and Information Studies, and Business Planning), and the School of Dentistry (Dept. of Dentistry). Attached to these main schools, we also have the respective Graduate Schools for each field. In addition to these main fields, Asahi University also offers Japanese language and culture courses. Each school and department provides an ideal mix of both technical and practical education that reflects the current and future needs of the move towards globalization. Moreover, in our efforts to promote social responsibility we strive to foster individuals who can contribute to the growth and betterment of society by not only enhancing the individual’s natural skill, but showing them how that skill can be applied for change, thus enabling them to take action with willingness and confidence.

Since its establishment in 1971, Asahi University has been building strong ties with 11 overseas universities including UCLA and Peking University, exchanging ideas, sharing in research, and most importantly offering students the opportunity to explore other cultures and beliefs through exchange programs. Asahi University understands and accepts its role as an institution that must embrace the inevitable of blending of humanity as the borders of distance and misconception are crossed.

In the last decade, the School of Dentistry has created a systematic educational program that cultivates skillful dentists. To this end, we seek to shape dentists who have an excellent clinical ability and who are ready to enter clinical training immediately after graduation. We impart upon our students desire for knowledge and self-improvement that will lead to lifelong training.

The School of Business Administration and the School of Law, likewise aims to prepare students for equal success and accomplishment. These schools focus on a co-operative education program that can respond to the individual needs of the students and aid them in fulfilling their varied goals. This has resulted in a very high job placement success-rate, and a promising number of successful entrants of the new legal examination.

In the field of accounting, Asahi University is working with local high schools to ensure that interested students gain a solid foundation of skill prior to entering university. We strive to produce tax accountants and certified public accountants within 3 or 4 years of high school and university. As with our other courses, we seek to instill our students with open-mindedness and an ability to think outside?of?the box, in addition to promoting the University’s philosophies of lifelong learning and social responsibility.

Asahi University is not confined to intellectual pursuits. Through our support of sports, we develop the mind and body. Sport offers the perfect environment to foster self-discipline, positive social interactions, and a heart that celebrates success and endures loss. We were proud and inspired by the fact that one of our alumni took part in the London Olympics in 2012 for the first time in the fencing competition. In the same year, the 67th National Sports Festival in Gifu (Gifu Seiryu Kokutai) was held, and many of our students, alumni and faculty members, took part as competitors, staff, or volunteers. Their participation became the prime mover for the event. While the shift towards global thinking carries us forward, our commitment to society keeps that critical bond with the local community. Our promotion of sport within Gifu is proof of our dedication.

As Asahi University continues our pursuit of knowledge, creativity and responsibility, we hope to see you at the head of the race, as leaders in your field and leaders in the community.
